DPX is Catalogic’s backup and recovery software platform for enterprise physical and virtual workloads. It is complemented by CloudCasa, Catalogic’s “as-a-service” offering for protecting Kubernetes and cloud-native workloads that is covered separately in The Futurum Group’s Backup-as-a-Service Research segment.

DPX supports disk-to-disk and direct-to-cloud backups. Backup copies are stored as immutable data copies; this includes support for S3 Object Lock (compliance and governance modes) for a number of cloud storage targets including Amazon and Backblaze. Additionally, backups can be automatically tiered to air gapped tape storage or longterm retention cloud storage.

At the core of Catalogic DPX’s backup capabilities is the vStor software defined backup repository. vStor allows for a backup target to be built on any block storage solution, providing flexibility and efficiency.

To address ransomware and cyber resiliency, Catalogic has added ransomware detection and prevention capabilities to DPS called DPX GuargMode. The GuardMode provides detection, identification, and recovery for ransomware related attacks.
