Overview
Dell PowerProtect Data Manager (Data Manager) is a data protection solution that was introduced into the Dell portfolio in July 2019. Data Manager provides key data protection features including backup, administrator-controlled and selfservice restores, replication, and data deduplication and compression. It leverages a software-as-aservice (SaaS)-based interface (Dell Data Protection Central) for monitoring and reporting, as well as application of retention locks.
Data Manager software can protect a variety of applications, and physical, virtualized, and containerbased infrastructures, both on-premises and in the cloud. It can use Dell PowerProtect DP or PowerProtect DD appliances as a target. In addition to being able to be deployed in the AWS, Microsoft Azure and GCP clouds, Data Manager can back data up, recover data, and tier data to AWS, Microsoft Azure and GCP clouds for archiving and long-term retention.
PowerProtect Data Manager can be purchased standalone, packaged within the Dell Data Protection Suite, or as a preintegrated appliance. It can also be deployed in AWS, Microsoft Azure and GCP, and procured through these providers’ respective marketplaces.
