CXL and IT Decisions: What and When

What is CXL (Compute Express Link) and what does it mean for IT?  This short discussion will give an overview of what CXL is and the upcoming decisions that will be important for IT operations.  CXL continues to expand, from a memory access protocol to expand the access to CPU memory to include switching and I/O operations.  OpenCAPI and Gen-Z have been absorbed into CXL.

For IT operations, decisions will be made regarding hardware supporting CXL functions and software solutions that can exploit the increased memory capabilities and performance characteristics.  Included in the discussion are expectations of the timing of different capabilities and considerations that will be important.
