New Research Covering On-premises Storage as a Service (STaaS) Solutions

Storage implemented as an on-premises service (STaaS) offers the immediacy, scalability and pay-per use flexibility of public cloud storage without the security and variability in performance issues.  More than consumption-based pricing, the offerings can be consumed as a managed service and allow the customer to use the latest technology.

While public cloud storage is immediately available, offers unlimited capacity and the ability to spin up/down resources using only what you pay for, it presents its own challenges, primarily related to data security.  It also still requires performance management that adds cost and consumes staff time.  Finally, problems can be difficult to remediate when dealing with the CSP’s support staff. On-premises STaaS solutions provide an alternative to these options.
